Pastor Roy Jernigan, 100, formerly of Livingston, died Feb. 28, 2025. He served as pastor of the First Texas Indian Baptist Church for many years until his retirement. He lived a life of dedicated service to his Lord and Savior. His humble spirit and vibrant dedication to his faith resonated with all those who met him, leaving an indelible impression on countless lives. He committed his life to preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a gifted minister of the gospel who served his faith community with passion and humility, creating a legacy of love and devotion that will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
He was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. Following retirement, he and his late wife, Lizzie Mae, served as missionaries to the American Indians for over 50 years before retiring.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda J. Williams, adopted daughter, Suzanne Peters (Donald Ray); son, Larry Jernigan (Nell); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 8 at Stoney Hill FWB Church in Middlesex, NC.
