SILSBEE — The Shepherd Pirates lost 49-20 to a state Top 20 team in Silsbee to end their season back in 4-A.

Head Coach Miles Robison said that he thought overall the kids played with great effort, but Silsbee’s speed was hard to contain.

Preston Stephens finished his night with 164 yards and 2 TDs, which put his rushing total for his senior year at 1,622 yards and 15 rushing TDs.

“I thought our offensive line played physical tough football all season,” he said. “Brayden White caught his first TD pass in what promises to be a very bright future. We started 8 sophomores so the future looks bright.”

Coldspring

The Trojans downed Anahuac 36-28 on Wednesday, putting the team at a 4-2 record in district, good enough for third, and giving Coldspring a spot in the postseason.

The Trojans are scheduled to play Teague, who also placed third in its district, on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Madisonville.
