DIBOLL — The Tiger Soccer team takes a 1-0 win over the Corrigan Bulldogs in the opening round of the Diboll Tournament for its first win of the season on Thursday.

On Friday, the Tigers went 1-1 with St. Augustine but lost to Jasper 2-0.

Girls

On Jan. 14, the Lady Tigers lost to Liberty 9-1.

Head Coach Josue Lopes said the girls started out slow, losing the first half 8 to 1.

Alexa Ruiz was the only one who scored a goal that half.

In the second half Trinity picked up the pace on defense, holding Liberty to one goal.

“We still lost, but we made progress in the second half,” Lopez said. “We started out with new goalie Alianna Reyes who showed great skill that day. Though she is new at the position, she did really well.”

On Jan. 17, Trinity lost 4-1 to New Waverly, a game that was rescheduled because of weather.

Lopez said the team played well in both halves, with Caylee Orellana scoring the lone goal.

“We had great attempts from Elizabeth Amaro and Alexa Ruiz, who nearly scored additional points,” he said. We couldn’t have done it without emerging star goalie Alianna Reyes. She did the impossible to stop multiple attempts.”
