Trinity continues winning ways

TRINITY — Mariah Tyson surpassed another milestone after the Lady Tigers dropped the Hudson Lady Hornets 43-23 on Dec. 17.

Tyson put up another double-double performance — 15 points and 19 rebounds — and passed the 200-point mark and 300-rebound mark on the year.

Currently, she has 311 total rebounds — 158 offensive and 153 defensive.

Along with Tyson’s performance against Hudson, Emma Sustaita, Olivia Mills and Teagan Droddy each put up 6 points. Mills added 8 rebounds herself.

Groveton

The Lady Indians lost to Coldspring 49-27 on Dec. 17.

Leading scorers were Darbi Parker with 10, and Summer Morris and Kayleigh Albus each with 5.

Centerville

The Lady Bulldogs picked up their first district win 40-36 over Laneville.

Kyleigh Bogs led the Lady Dawgs with 13 points, whiled Taylor Barton and Peyton Noack both chipped in 9, Jamie Whittlesey had 7 points and Jordyn Jones had 2 points.

Apple Springs

The Lady Eagles were overpowered by Martinsville 99-4 on Dec. 17.

 

Boys

Centerville

The Bulldogs opened up district play with an 87-25 win over Laneville on Dec. 17.

Jake Slaten led the team with 24 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. Iain Kendrick had 15 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals; Kolt Larsen had 11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal; Eli Emmons had 12 points and 1 rebound; Hardy Brown had 6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; and Brandon McWhorter had 6 points and 6 rebounds.

Trinity

The Tigers edged out Cypress Christian 54-50 on Dec. 17

Terian Maxie had 22 points and everyone else contributed with rebounds and really great defense!!

Apple Springs

The Eagles lost a close match with Martinsville 49-41 on Dec. 17.

Groveton

The Indians were outscored 2-to-1 in their Dec. 17 79-36 loss to Anderson-Shiro.

Ruger McLain had the hot hand for Groveton, tossing in 12 points, while Josiah Allen pulled down 11 boards.
