Warriors beat Bucs in extra innings

The Warren Warriors won in exciting fashion last week in an extra innings game versus the East Chambers Buccaneers.

East Chambers scored first in the top of the first inning, but the Warriors answered in their half of the frame when 1st baseman Sam Standley drove in Parker Brocato to tie the game 1-1.

Warriors took the lead 2-1 in the third when Cyrus Cimei scored after some timely Warrior hits from Shortstop Easton Evans and second baseman Cyrus Cimei, but a messy 6th inning ended with 2 Bucs runs and a score of 4-2.

Center fielder Kolbyn Bennet cut that lead to 1 with a solo home run in the sixth after a 7-pitch battle.

Pitcher Parker Brocato held the Bucs scoreless in the seventh; he had a fantastic outing, fanning 17 batters in total.

The Warriors had to score at least 1 in the final inning to extend the game, and they did just that due to some clever base running on the part of Parker Brocato. He stole home on a passed ball and tied the game; it was his third stolen base of the game.

Levi Ledbetter came on to pitch in the eighth and held the Bucs scoreless. Now it was time for the Warriors to produce some offense. Ledbetter led off with a walk; he managed to make it to third a bit later when the EC pitcher missed the mark on a pickoff attempt.

With the winning run on third, the Warriors could not immediately cash in, as the next two batters struck out and popped up, respectively. Cimei came up with two outs, and promptly ripped the Bucs pitch to left field, scoring Ledbetter easily.
