Alma Lee Tipton (nee Tidwell) was called home to the Lord on March 12, 2025, just days before her 99th birthday, in The Woodlands.
Alma was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her kindness, genuine warmth, and unyielding positivity left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Whether you were a friend, family member, or someone she met briefly, Alma always made you feel seen and heard, offering a listening ear, words of encouragement, and the kind of humor that could brighten any day.
Alma’s selflessness extended to her friends and family, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether for a simple task or a moment of emotional support. She was the glue that held her loved ones together, and her unwavering love and devotion will be missed beyond measure.
Alma was a gifted artist with a special passion for porcelain china painting. She found immense joy in creating beautiful works of art. As a teacher of porcelain painting, she cherished the opportunity to share her knowledge and inspire others. Her talent and attention to detail were evident in every brushstroke, and her artwork remains a treasured part of many lives.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Alma had a deep love for travel, always eager to experience the beauty and culture of new places. She loved sharing her travel stories, including the incredible round-the-world trip she took with her sister in 1978. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore new places and meet new people, creating cherished memories along the way.
Alma was born on March 27, 1926, in Oklahoma City, to Hazael Irene and Otho Lee Tidwell. While her early days were in Oklahoma, Alma would be quick to remind you she was a true Texan, given her family’s move to Houston when she was just 6 months old. For her, Texas was more than a place — it was home.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Tipton; sister, Lenora Crawford (Tidwell); brother, Jack Tidwell; sister in-law, Doris Napper (Tipton); and best friend, Jada Guinn.
She is survived by her nephew, Doug Summerford; niece, Raelynn Napper and wife, Tessa Milman; her grand-nieces, Brittany Summerford and Christiana Napper-Millman; and grand-nephew, Matthew Napper-Milman.
Funeral services will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Trinity on March 27 at 1 p.m., marking what would have been Alma’s 99th birthday. We warmly invite everyone to gather and honor this special day as we celebrate her incredible life and the beautiful spirit she shared with all.
Flowers are welcome or donations in lieu can be made to First Methodist Church of Trinity in honor of Alma Tipton. 449
