GROVETON — The Groveton ISD Board of Trustees discussed the arrival of a mobile education unit for Groveton Junior High School students.

Superintendent Jim Dillard said that at the Oct. 27 meeting, the trustees heard a presentation about the Texas Education Association Science, Technology, Engineering and Math lab, which will be at the campus Nov. 11-12.

Dillard said the STEM lab allows students through and observe experiments in all the areas while providing activities for learning. It was set up by teacher Kacie Taylor.

“It’s like having a field trip come to the school,” he said.

In other business, the trustees:

  • approved changing the November and December meeting dates to Nov. 19 and Dec. 17; and
  • approved retention stipends for all employees. Dillard said the amount varies based on experience and tenure.
