TRINITY — The Boys & Girls Club of Walker County plans to reestablish Club programming in the Trinity community beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, ensuring that young people once again have access to a safe, supportive place to learn and grow after school and during the summer months.
The Trinity Club previously served as an important resource for local families. With its closure, many children have gone without consistent access to structured programs, academic support, and positive mentorship. The Boys & Girls Club of Walker County is stepping forward to fill that gap and restore these vital services for the long term.
"This is about making sure no child in our region is without the opportunities and support the Boys & Girls Club provides," said Michelle Spencer, Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Walker County. "We know the impact a Club can have on a young person's life, and we are committed to bringing that impact back to Trinity for the next school year and for years to come."
The Club's plan includes facility upgrades, program development, and staffing to ensure a high-quality experience for youth. To support this effort, the organization is launching a community-wide fundraising initiative to secure the resources needed to open and sustain the Trinity site.
As part of this effort, the Temple Foundation has led the way with a generous commitment to provide matching funds, creating a significant opportunity for local donors to double the impact of their contributions.
"We are proud to support the restoration of critical youth services in Trinity," said Melanie Colclough of the Temple Foundation. "It is our hope that this contribution will encourage additional community investment to help grow and sustain the important work of the Boys & Girls Club there."
At the Boys & Girls Club, young people have access to academic support, STEM and enrichment programs, leadership development opportunities, and caring adult mentors. These services play a critical role in helping youth build confidence, develop life skills, and prepare for a successful future.
Local support will be essential to making this vision a reality. Community members, businesses, and partners are encouraged to contribute to the effort and take advantage of the matching funds opportunity.
"This is a moment for our community to come together," Spencer added. "With the support of local donors and partners like the Temple Foundation, we can ensure that every child in Trinity has a place where they feel safe, supported, and inspired to succeed."
The Boys & Girls Club of Walker County provides a safe, supportive environment where young people can learn, grow, and thrive. Through academic support, enrichment programs, and mentorship, the Club helps youth build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and in life.
Local support and matching funds opportunity will help bring critical youth programs back to the Trinity community.
