CENTERVILLE — The No. 12-ranked Centerville boys opened up the season with a double-digit 65-49 home win on Friday over a 2A Latexo team that won 18 games last year and made the 2A playoffs.
Top players include Kolt Larsen with 23 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals; Iain Kendrick with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals; Hardy Brown with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists; Braden White with 6 points and 7 rebounds; and Wyatt Clede with 3 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists.
Meanwhile, the JV team lost 55-31.
Top scorers were Aiden Conner with 15 points, Trinity Nerren with 5 points, Brice Selman with 4 points, and Daniel Brister with 4 points.
For the girls, the Lady Bulldogs won 62-35, while the JV girls lost 23-18.
Top players include Avery Brown with 28 points, Darbi Parker with 14 points and 7 steals, and Laney Peterson with 12 points and 7 rebounds.
On Nov. 8, the Lady Bulldogs were edged out by Leggett 48-47 in the season opener.
The Lady Indians split games last week, downing Corrigan-Camden 46-14 on Friday but falling 44-31 to Warren on Nov. 11.
The Lady Tigers won one and lost two to start off the basketball season.
On Nov. 8, Trinity won over Mount Enterprise 30-28.
Top scorers were Mariah Tyson with 9 points, and Bree Davidson and Alexa Pruitt both with 7.
Pruitt led in rebounds with 17, while Tyson added 14.
Then on Nov. 11, Trinity lost to Timpson 31-28. The top scorer was Tyson with 10 points.
On Friday, the Lady Tigers lost to Hargrave 48-34.
