According to GameChanger Media, a double by Wyatt Clede put Centerville on the board in the top of the first, but Groveton jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when an error scored one run, Gunner Wilson tripled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Groveton added one run in the second after Jake Plotts singled down the left field line on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.
Clede pitched three innings in relief for Centerville. The righty gave up one hit and three runs while, striking out four and walking three. Hardy Brown then stepped on the bump and gave up four hits and five runs over two innings, striking out three and walking one.
Kolt Larsen and Brown each collected two hits. Larsen stole two bases, and Plotts drove the middle of the lineup, leading Groveton with three runs batted in.
Jack Sullivan began the game for Groveton, allowing four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking two.
Cade White led Groveton with two hits in five at bats. Groveton turned two double plays in the game.
On Friday, Centerville beat Neches 7-3 to open district play.
Hardy Brown led the offense with 2 hits at the plate, while Brown and Jake Slaten took turns on the mound, combining for 6 strikeouts and allowing only 4 hits.

The Eagles threw 5 pitchers at Hemphill, but the Hornets still managed 19 runs on 17 hits.
After a week break, the Tigers returned to the diamond with a 20-5 loss to Teague on Friday.
Hunter Ogden, Brady Arnold, Austin Beasley, Chance Barron and Christian Vaughn all contributed to the offense. Ogden, Arnold, Beasley and William Lee took turns on the mound, giving up 20 runs on 15 hits.
The Lady Indians played their home opener on a brand-new Groveton High School Softball Field on March 11, taking a 13-1 win over Douglass.
Reaghan Benton had two home runs on the night.
On Friday, Groveton beat Corrigan-Camden 7-6.
The Lady Eagles dropped 2 games on the week, losing 19-0 to Cushing on March 11, and losing 16-1 to Douglass on March 10.
Against Douglass, Lauren Lankford led the offense, going 2-for-2 at the plate. Faith Smith had mound duty, throwing 3 strikeouts while giving up 16 runs on 10 hits.
Against Cushing, Faith Smith and Kymber Roberts each had hits in the game. Smith and Abrie McWhorter each toed the mound, giving up 16 hits.
