CENTERVILLE — With the Bulldogs win over Apple Springs, they officially clinch a playoff berth for the second consecutive year, and with the Centerville Girls have also secured their playoff spot, it will be the first time since 2005 that both girls and boys will compete in the playoffs in the same year.
Also on Friday, Iain Kendrick was honored for hitting 1,500 career points.
Head Coach Geoffrey Hollis said 1,500 points is a milestone that only a select few get to reach in high school basketball.
“I have had the pleasure and privilege of coaching Iain his entire playing career and have seen up close how much he has put into this,” he said. “Reaching this milestone was no coincidence. It takes unwavering dedication and hard work to join that club. Iain has earned his place in school history with an outstanding career here at Centerville."
Centerville defeated Apple Springs 80-45.
Top producers were Hardy Brown with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal; Iain Kendrick with 21 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 6 steals; Kolt Larsen with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals; Braden White with 4 points and 14 rebounds; and Wyatt Clede with 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
On Feb. 3, the Bulldogs hammered Zavalla 72-48, while the JV lost 35-21.
Top producers were Kolt Larsen with 21 points, 13 assists, 1 rebound and 4 steals; Hardy Brown with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals; Iain Kendrick with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals; Braden White with 10 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1 steal; and Wyatt Clede with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal.
A huge win over Anderson-Shiro on Friday brings the Tigers’ district record to 5-2, and their overall record to 16-11.
Trinity overpowered the Owls 87-62.
Ayden DeBose posted 26 points, while Cord'e Walker scored 18 points. Terian Maxie chipped in 17, and Darryn Bass scored 12.
Trinity has won five of their last six matchups.
On Feb. 3, the Tigers came up a little short, falling to the Onalaska Wildcats 91-84.
Still, all of the starters posted double-digit scores: DeBose had 24, Bass had 20, Walker had 17, Matthew Bivens had 13 and Barron had 10.
The Eagles lost to Wells 52-44 on Feb. 2.
The Indians posted a couple of losses on the week, losing 56-22 to Leon on Feb. 3 and losing 70-36 to Lovelady on Friday.
Against Leon, Everett Snyder led the charge with 8 points, and against Lovelady, Ty Torregrossa had 12.
