RUSK — The Centerville Bulldogs find themselves in new territory after a regional final win over Union Hill on Saturday — the final four of the 1A state baseball tournament.
Saturday’s 6-1 win is the 12th in a row for the Bulldogs.
The game was close for 3 innings as neither team scored, but then Centerville put 3 runs on the board in the top of the 4th, and another 3 in the 5th, all of which went unanswered by Union Hill until the bottom of the 6th when they plated the team’s only run.
Kolt Larsen and his fastball did the heavy lifting in the game, tossing 12 strikeouts while giving up 7 hits. Hardy Brown came in for an inning and change, tossing 4 strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Drew Larsen, Wyatt Clede, Chris Fry, Westin Cornelius, Brown and Larsen each picked up hits in the win, but the team racked up 10 stolen bases in the win.
Centerville now has gone farther into the brackets than it ever has; the Bulldogs will now head to Montgomery to square off with Fayetteville.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Lake Creek High School.
