City looks into water meter upgrade

Posted

GROVETON — City Council members were given a presentation on water meters that would automate water usage and meter reading.

City Secretary Dorrie Cotton said that representatives from HydroPro discussed two new meter types the city might use for conversions throughout the city, one that provided a constant signal and one that provided signals at set intervals.

The upgrades would allow the city to monitor water use remotely and make meter reading easier for the city as it could be done drive-by.

No action was taken.

In other business, council members:

  • accepted the retirement letter from librarian Cathy Czajkowski;
  • approved payment to Inframark of $9,546.71 for water and sewer management services;
  • granted permission for the use of the Square for the annual Spring Fling;
  • discussed sidewalk safety and will plan a meeting with business owners about blocked sidewalks; and
  • took no action on a request to designate storefront parking on the Square.
