Closing another chapter at Trinity High School

Posted

Only seven more days until Memorial Day holiday and 11 more days until the class of 2025-2026 Seniors graduate. This year the graduation services for TISD are being held on Friday, May 29, at 3 p.m. in Huntsville. Why?

For the past few years, the graduation ceremony for TISD has been on Saturday at the Coliseum in Huntsville, so why did we lose our usual Saturday date and time?

I guess all of you know by now, we have a new Superintendent for TISD. Dr. John Kaufmann retired this year after 38 years of serving and teaching children in Texas and now retired in Trinity from his last administration duties. Thank you for your tenure.

The new Superintendent’s name is Dr. Ben Petty and he hails from Magnolia. Welcome to our city.

TISD Senior Schedule for the next two weeks:

May 18, blood drive

May 20, scholarship/award night

May 27, robing ceremony

May 28, senior walk starting at LES with graduation practice to follow.

May 29, TISD Graduation Day at 3 p.m. in Huntsville at the Sam Houston Coliseum.

•Correction to the article last week regarding the luncheon prepared Thursday for the Trinity High School Teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week. I said it was First Methodist Church of Trinity, but it was the Trinity Tabernacle Assembly of God who prepared and served the luncheon. However, I did not get the teachers and my opinion wrong about the food at luncheon. The church served Mexican food and all the trimmings, and it was delicious. Kudos to this group of volunteers and their church.

Monday, May 25, is Memorial Day.

June 4, TISD  school term ends.
