Saturday was an awesome night for the Haley Burk Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The organization held a purse bingo gala at the YMCA Camp Cullen in Trinity.
I had forgotten how beautiful the ride through the forest to the campgrounds was. It was easy to drive there as ballons depicted the way. Several events were occurring Saturday, but the bingo purse fundraiser was the best.
Congratulations to the Foundation for their first purse bingo fundraiser as I am sure it will not be the last. Nestled against the trees, the banquet room was splendidly decorated, and the event was well organized.
The emcee was loud and clear, instructions were given, and the games began promptly at 6:30 p.m. after a delicious Mexican Fiesta meal of tacos, beans, and rice. There was a salad and tea bar, and cookies were certainly homemade for the occasion. Great job.
The crowd was jovial and had a great time, with everyone enjoying the ten games and door prizes received throughout the evening.
I left early because I have more difficulty driving after dark in the back woods. Congratulations to Shane and Kevin Pringle for a job well done and a beautiful evening for the generous people of Trinity County.
What a generous and delightful evening Camp Cullen presented to the Haley Burk Memorial Foundation, showing support for a community endeavor.
We have many organizations, churches, businesses, and people that support our citizens in their quest for heart felt missions. I am proud to name each week in the newspaper some of the most notable events that happen in our community.
We have only 2,343 residents inside the city limits and 15,000 outside the city limits, but I think we are the most generous county in Texas. Statics say Trinity is the poorest county in Texas, but our hearts and giving say otherwise.
If I do not list your generous organization in this thank you, I will next week as you let me know of my short sightedness.
Here are some of Trinity City’s generous benefactors: Brookshire Brothers, Calvary Baptist Church, Circle of Brothers Club, Circuit Physical Therapy, Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church, First Methodist Church of Trinity, First Presbyterian Church, Liberty Christian Church, Knights of Columbus, McDonald’s, Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Martin Senior Citizen Center, River of Life Church, River Pointe Health and Rehabilitation, Reaching Outside of the Church, Rollo Insurance Agency, State Farm, The Way You Live, Trinity Community Fair Association, Trinity City Hall, Trinity ISD, Trinity Florist and Gifts, Trinity Lions Club, Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, Trinity Police Department, Trinity Volunteer Fire Department, Trinity County Veterans Wall of Honor Society, VFW Post 6899 and many more.

See you there.
