Council considers electronic billboard

GROVETON — The Groveton City Council discussed the possibility of putting an electric billboard on the main drive through the city to provide information to city residents and other passers-by.

City Secretary Dorrie Cotton said that Donna Dixon told the council at the July 28 meeting that she had spoken to a signage company because quite a few people in the community asked about placing an electronic message board on the main road.

The council took no action, but will consider the matter, particularly placement.

In other business, council members:

• approved the Inframark report and the monthly billing of $7,763.92. Additionally, they discussed pump replacement at the Highway 94 lift station;
• discussed requirements for a downtown revitalization grant;
• discussed annexation of areas adjacent to the city for a new truck stop at Highway 287 and FM 3154;
• discussed a complaint on Allegiance Ambulance Service; and
• delayed action on a filling a vacant council position.
