GROVETON — The Groveton City Council was updated on a water storage tank project and opted to get updates on a second unit at the Dec. 29 meeting.

City Secretary Dorrie Cotton said that council members asked Mayor Hayden Lee about the project to construct a ground storage tank. There was little information, and Lee said he will contact KSA Engineering for an update.

In the meantime, it was reported that a recently completed tank at the city’s well site was finished and working, giving the city an additional 85,000 gallons of stored water.

In a related matter, Cotton said she approached the county regarding an upgrade or replacement of the city’s utility software, which is out of date.

Cotton said council members directed her to contact area municipalities to get information on options.

In other business, council members:

  • approved payment of the $6,143.24 Inframark bill;
  • approved a $1,500 payment to Pet Fixers for work on controlling loose animals by offering spay/neuter vouchers. The initial request was for $1,000, but at the urging of Council Member Autumn Persons, the amount was increased; and
  • discussed the use of the Square for the March Spring Fling, and the city’s social media presence.
