County pumps brakes on personnel action forms

GROVETON — Questions about several personnel action forms led the Trinity County Commissioners Court to send them back to the department heads for corrections.

Commissioner Tommy Park questioned the reason for leaving on three jailer forms, as the reason for the change was listed at “Commissioner Mandate,” which Park said he did not know the meaning.

Other commissioners agreed, saying they have never heard of that reason.

The remaining forms were approved, including several that sought full payout of accrued comp time, which is mandated by law.

In making the motion, Park said, “I won’t approve the other three until the reason for leaving is corrected.”

In other business, commissioners:

  • proclaimed October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month;
  • approved disaster-related invoices;
  • approved budget amendments for Fiscal Year 2025;
  • approved seeking applications for a part-time employee to work in the Grants office;
  • tabled acceptance of a grant administrator and an engineering firm for a Texas Land Office grant for community improvement;
  • approved an agreement between the Sheriff’s Office and TxDOT for the use of state right of way for deployment of Flock Safety Equipment;
  • approved a donation of $500 from Snag’s Wrecker Service and $500 from Williams Wrecker Service for the purchase of tasers for the Sheriff’s Office;
  • approved the slate of candidates for the Trinity County Appraisal District Board, with the substitution of Jason Due for Ivy Evans;
  • approved bids for tax sale properties; and
  • approved funding for the Oct. 18 cleanup day to be paid out of the county’s contingency fund in lieu of grant funds.
