Eagles drop two games in week’s court outing

APPLE SPRINGS — The Eagles put up a good fight against the district’s top-ranked Wells Pirates on Friday, but it wasn’t enough and Wells walked away with a 78-40 win.

On Jan. 6 against Kennard, the Eagles fell 89-55.

Centerville

Centerville defeated Broaddus 76-42 at home on Jan. 6 to move to 2-0 in district and 13-6 overall.

Top performers were Iain Kendrick with 25 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals; Kolt Larsen with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals; Hardy Brown with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists; Wyatt Clede with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals; and Braden White with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Bulldogs moved to 3-0 in district play after a 79-45 win over the Zavalla Eagles on Friday.

Centerville held a 10-point lead at the half but stormed out of the gate in the third quarter, scoring 37 points to build a commanding lead.

Centerville moved to 14-6 on the season and will host Apple Springs at home on Tuesday.

Top performers were Kolt Larsen with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 15 assists and 4 steals; Iain Kendrick with 28 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 1 steals; Hardy Brown with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals; Braden White with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 2 steals; and Wyatt Clede with 5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals and 2 blocks.

Trinity

The Tigers came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 47-37 on Friday.

It was the fourth in a row for Trinity, bringing their record up to 11-8.

Prior to that on Jan. 6, the tigers downed Center 68-41.

Head Coach Chris Harvey said Ayden DeBose led the charge, controlling the pace of the game and putting up 28 points, and Terian Maxie dominated the boards and showcased a few highlight reel dunks, putting up 13 points.

Other key performers tonight were Cordé Walker (11 points) and Daryn Bass (8 points).

Harvey said the X factor of the night was Chance Barron as he was active on the boards all night and a big help on the defensive end.

“The tigers played as a team, and they got the job done protecting their home court,” he said.
