Ellwood Drinkard Jr., 63, passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with Stage 4 lung cancer. He was born on Aug. 20, 1961, in Crockett, to Elwood and Mary Sue Drinkard.

He is survived by his siblings, Elmer Lee Drinkard, Mary Jewel Drinkard, and Susie Hammond, along with her husband, Glenn. Ellwood was a beloved uncle to Elmer Drinkard Jr. (wife Sandy), Daisy Brumley, Jamie Drinkard (partner Paula), Justin Hammond (wife Kaleena), and Sidney Fuchs (husband Patrick). He also leaves behind great-nieces and nephews, Casey Drinkard, Kyle Isget, Chase Isget, Ethan Drinkard, Sawyer Drinkard, Stormy Fuchs, and Kirby Fuchs; as well as great-great-nieces, Blake and Ziggy.

Ellwood had a passion for gardening and loved spending time working in the yard, finding peace and joy in caring for the land around him. In his later years, he adopted a new hobby — raising and caring for chickens — which brought him much happiness. He lived a simple, quiet life, staying at home and minding his own business, content with the life he built.

In the final years of his life, Ellwood moved in with his mother, Mary Sue Drinkard, to take care of her, providing for her every need with dedication and love. His kindness, selflessness, and loyalty to his family will never be forgotten.

Ellwood was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in January 2025. Despite his brave fight, he succumbed to the disease in April. His strength and resilience throughout this difficult time were a testament to his character and love for his family.

A joint graveside service for both Ellwood and his mother, Mary Sue Drinkard, will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Pennington Cemetery in Pennington.

Ellwood will be remembered every time a family member sees flowers, a freshly cut yard, or a beautiful vegetable garden — his legacy of love, care, and quiet strength will live on in those moments. 330
