GROVETON — By all accounts, the annual Trinity County Fair & Youth Livestock Show held over the weekend was awesome.

Fair Board President Doug Page said he feels it was one of the best fairs ever.

“It’s gone real well,” he said. “We did some improvements (in the area) and moved things around for convenience and space. The grounds are in excellent shape.”

Page credited the Fair Association and volunteers for chipping in where needed: “This is a good group of people.”

The event boasted 155 animal entries, and upwards of 275 total entries, and Page said the quality of the projects, and especially the animals, was top-notch.

“These kids have done a great job,” he said.

The jobs the kids did translated well into the Livestock Auction, where preliminary figures show that the kids raised $556,976.

This year’s fair was dedicated to the memory of Centerville ISD ag science teacher Kelly Dial.
