Fair was another spectacular event

Posted

Well, the 76th Trinity Fair is over. I cannot lie. It was too hot. Since we re-routed the parade this year, maybe we should think about holding our annual Fair at the end of October. Everyone was miserable. It was too hot to eat. By 8 p.m. the vendors were giving away food so they would not have to go home with leftovers.

I was told that the parade was safe with lots of candy given out to the children. The public visited the Inside Exhibit Hall all day long to escape the heat, but the crowds were small and there were so many spaces open for additional vendors, people questioned the Trinity Chamber Booth why they were not allowed to have their booths like last year.

There were many complaints about the high prices of food, but not the rides. However, the kudos goes to Trinity High School Culinary Art Teacher and her students’ baking skills. The students provided and prepared the luncheon for the Trinity Community Fair Association’s buyers group’s afternoon luncheon. They served brisket, potatoes, green beans, salad, dessert (cobbler and banana pudding), and it was all made by the students at Trinity High School.

In addition, the students were also the waitstaff and the cleanup crew. We are so lucky to have our new Fine Arts Director and teacher, Mary Wilson. She not only championed the students to do the Luncheon, but she did an outstanding job of getting her students to enter the Home baked Goods category of competition in the Exhibit Hall and many won Best of Show, blue and red ribbons for their culinary talents. Kudos again Ms. Wilson.

If you did not attend the fair, for your information, the students’ homemade wood projects were phenomenal as well as the culinary art class projects. The two picnic bench-type tables were purchased by HEB of Huntsville, and I know they got a bargain because there was more than $600 in materials invested in these two tables by these two students. The other furniture and wood items were exceptional also and I believe every student went home a happy camper with financial gains in their pockets.

  • The inside vendors were very anxious to know about the Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Christmas Show which I told them the show was the first Saturday in December as usual.
