GROVETON — The Groveton Volunteer Fire Department battled a blaze on Monday that damaged a home.

Fire Chief Glenn Hammond said that along with the GVFD, the Pennington and Trinity departments assisted with the fire that broke out in the wall of the structure on Westville Road.

Two engines, a brush truck and a tanker were used, he said.

Hammond said the cause was electrical as the fire started at the meter.

No injuries were reported.

On Saturday, the department put out a small fire on Lacy 4 Road that was caused by a downed power line.

A truck and three firefighters responded to the blaze, which was about ¼ of an acre.

Hammond said it was contained with no problems.
