Trinity Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to a brush fire on FM 356 at White Rock Acres Monday night.

Fire Chief Keith Johnson said firefighters arrived to find a slow moving brush fire at approximately 1 acre   The fire was quickly contained and mop up took about 30 minutes.

On Saturday, TVFD responded to a structure fire early Saturday morning in Westwood Shores.

Johnson said a large storage shed was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival of first units, but firefighters made a quick knock down and extinguished everything in about an hour.

The shed was a total loss.

On Friday afternoon, firefighters were called to FM 356 by Burning Hope Church for a four-vehicle accident.  No one was injured but several of the vehicles were damaged.

Trinity Police Dept investigated the accident and Texas DPS assisted with traffic control.

•On Tuesday, the Apple Springs and Groveton volunteer fire departments responded to Griffin Road near Apple Springs for a rekindled brush fire that burned approximately two acres.

The U.S. Forest Service also assisted.

One piece of equipment that continues to prove its value is the UTV. On these types of fires, it allows firefighters to reach areas that are difficult to access with larger trucks and move personnel and equipment around the fire much more quickly.

Firefighters suggest using extreme caution. Conditions remain dry, and previously burned areas can rekindle.

The Trinity County Commissioners Court enacted a burn ban last week.
