GLENDALE — The Groveton, Friday, Pennington and Trinity volunteer fire departments responded to a brush fire on Glendale Holly Road on Thursday.
The fire was estimated to have covered 50 acres.
Firefighters made a stand at the road but the fire managed to jump it. They then made a quick attack and stopped it from getting far off the road, and Texas Forest Service arrived with a dozer and plowed around the fire to contain it.
•Early Sunday morning, the Groveton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Bill Rasbeary Road.
The vehicle was traveling down the roadway when it caught fire. Crews arrived quickly and were able to extinguish the fire.
No injuries were associated with this incident.
•On Wednesday, Groveton firefighters responded to an RV and grass fire in Groveton.
An engine, two brush trucks and a tanker arrived with six firefighters.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
•Trinity Volunteer Fire Department responded to a shed fire in Trinity Cove on Friday afternoon.
Upon arrival firefighters found a shed fully involved with fire spreading into a field.
The fire, which was caused by an unattended burn pile, destroyed the shed and everything in it.
