The first weekend in October was really bustling. There were many fundraisers happening in Trinity County including Trinity’s yearly homecoming events and football game. There were Mum’s and Mom’s everywhere. Festivities at TISD started at 4:30 with a tailgate party and ended with a dance after the football game. I remember those days so many years ago, but I do not remember the heat in West Texas in October as it is now.
•The Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce 5K Run was successful and had more than 40 people attend the run. This was a joint sponsorship with Camp Cullen, and everyone had a great time. In addition, the Chamber is holding its October meeting this month at the Camp, and we are looking forward to planning more events for the Community next year.
As you know, the TPCC Christmas Show is just around the corner, and many items have to be decided about the first Saturday in December celebration. For instance, the theme for 2025, the parade route, Santa Claus, the float decorations, booth prices, and how many vendors can fit inside the Community Center, and how many performers we can get to return and perform.
Jonathan Minson has agreed to be the Master of Ceremony again for this year, and we are thankful he schedules Trinity City on his schedule for the first weekend in December each year. This year he has a surprise for us. Jonathan’s grandmother is going to be one of our vendors. She makes homemade Christmas, birthday, and all-occasion cards. I can’t wait to meet her at the show.
•I made it to the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department’s fundraiser on Sunday, and it was awesome. The sandwiches were wonderful, and the weather was perfect. I drove through the station house for my lunch and every man serving was courteous and helpful. Fire Chief Keith Johnson is a real asset to our community, and the fire department is one of the best in Trinity County or any County for that matter.
•I went to another fundraiser in town for a young veteran that had a terrible gun accident, and it was tremendous event also. The food was really good, and I stuffed myself on beef and chicken tacos and charro beans. I hate to brag, but I did not have to cook any meals this weekend. Trinity residents are so generous to help their fellowmen in need all the time.
There was one more fundraiser at the Back Porch Bar and Grill, but I didn’t make that one. However, there were many cars and people attending that event also.
•Two big events I am going to expound on for October is the Trinity Veterans Wall of Honor Society Fundraiser and Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church Fall Festival Fundraiser.
I used to attend the Wall of Honor fundraiser for many years, but in the last few years I have not attended and only donated money to win prizes in their giant raffle pool. In fact. I have donated to this fundraiser for 18 years.
After 17 years, I finally won a prize. I won $250 in cash. The members raise and get great prizes and provide many services for the Veterans in need because they have this fundraiser every year. God Bless the Trinity County Veterans.

•The second fundraiser I am promoting is the annual October festival sponsored by Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 401 S. Prospect Drive, in Trinity. For a smaller affair, it is one of the best events in the city. The atmosphere is and its people make this one of the most enjoyable festivals in Trinity in my opinion.
The food, the customs, the costumes, music, and prizes are always over the top. Plus, it is just fun. This festival is hosted on two different days but together.

For your information,15 years ago I won a 40-inch Vizio TV at one of the MHTCC festivals and I was thrilled to death. I had never won any raffle prize before.
