At a special meeting of the Groveton City Council, the members:
- Approved the purchase a gradall, will be used to make ditches rounder and deeper to make the flow of storm water better. The council approved the $10,000 expenditure, and the item will be purchased from Country Equipment Sales.
- Discussed renting the Police Department building to the Department of Public Safety. Mayor Hayden Lee informed the council that DPS troopers had approached the city with the proposal, saying that the current office they use at the TxDOT building was too small.
The building has been empty since the Police Department had been disbanded, after which the city contracted with Trinity County for law enforcement. No decision on the rental has been made, but the matter will be brought up at a later date.
