GROVETON — When multiple turnovers puts a team in a hole, it requires patience to battle out of it, but Head Coach Scott Green said his Indians didn’t get that done.
The Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs owned the Battle of Highway 287 in a 43-7 blowout victory over the Groveton Indians on Friday.
“We are understanding the game better than when we started, but understanding that it takes all 11 players to make it work is still in progress,” he said. “We can't pick and choose when you want to play the game. The tools are there but making them all work as one is the challenge.”
Green said that offensively, the line played well and the running game was there for us.
“Taking what they give us out wide is our goal this week,” he said. “Coach Richard Steubing and our defensive staff put our players in the right position; we just have to make the play. We will get better.”
Ramello Wolfe had a good outing behind the line, and Blake Chaney led the receiver core with a few catches, one for the team’s lone score.
Hagan Townsend and Tristan Ard played well in the defensive line, Green said.
Groveton will face the Normangee Panthers for Homecoming on Friday.
The Eagles outscored Trinidad almost 2-to-1 for a 67-35 win, one that ended up a milestone for Head Coach Cody Moree.
“I would like to express my deepest appreciation to these young men,” Moree said. “(Friday) night they handed me my 100th Six-man win. I’m very grateful and proud of them!”
