GROVETON — One game to win for any team is Homecoming, which Groveton did in style by downing Normangee 37-12.
Head Coach Scott Green praised the team, saying they played well in all phases of the game.
“The running game was successful on offense and our defense kept us in short field advantage,” he said.
Tristan Ard played well on offense and defense, and had two scores on the ground and five sacks defensively.
Colton Cox had an interception and ran it back about 65 yards for TD.
Ty Torregrossa also had two scores.
“The offensive line put another good week in,” Green said. “When you're able to control that aspect of the game it takes pressure off everyone. The defensive line did great as well, putting enough pressure on Normangee to allow our linebackers to hit the gaps and make tackles.
“Very proud of the effort,” he said.
The Tigers bounced back from their first loss of the season to hammer Warren 36-7 on Friday.
The team combined for 193 total yards — three in the air and 190 on the ground.
The defense combined for 54 tackles on the night.
