GROVETON — On Dec. 29, the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office and the Groveton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle crash on US Highway 287 at Highway 94 that left a semi truck overturned.
Three fire department units responded with a total of five firefighters on scene.
No injuries were reported in this incident.
Sheriff Woody Wallace said he extends sincere thanks to the Groveton VFD volunteers for their quick response, professionalism, and continued dedication to keeping our community safe, and reminded drivers to slow down, stay alert, and drive safely through intersections and rural roadways.
On Friday, the VFD were called to three small brush fires in the Groveton area .
•Trinity firefighters were kept busy New Year’s Day with numerous calls for help.
Chief Keith Johnson said that at approximately 12:20 a.m. New Years Day, TVFD received a call to assist Scenic Loop Fire Department in Polk County with a structure fire. Ladder 1 and 4 firefighters responded but were canceled when the fire was brought under control.
Then Thursday afternoon Firefighters responded to a grass fire off of FM 1617. Two brush trucks and one tanker arrived to find a fast-moving fire covering approximately 2 acres.
Harris said the fire was quickly brought under control.
Then at around 9:30 that night a one-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 94 near Friday Road.
Harris said they dispatched two trucks and 16 firefighters for traffic control. Ventura EMS, Trinity County Sheriff's Office and DPS assisted at the scene.
No injuries were reported.
