TRINITY — Coming off a heartbreaking last-second loss, the Tigers entered Friday Night determined to make a statement against the visiting Kountze Lions. With both teams coming into the game with a 2-2 record, headed into a bye week, the Tigers showed the Lions who owned the crown as King of the Jungle.

Trinity won 47-8.

After receiving the opening kickoff, the Tigers took 2 plays to score with a Terian Maxie 65-yard pass to Cord’e Walker. With a 7-0 lead, the defense forced a punt, and once again the Tigers needed only 2 plays to score with an Ayden DeBose 76-yard run down the sideline for a touchdown.

After forcing another Kountze punt, the Tigers offense needed 3 plays for another Maxie to Walker touchdown pass, this time 47 yards. The defense forced yet another punt and once again the Tigers found the end-zone with a 7-play scoring drive that ended with a 17-yard pass from Maxie to Chance Barron.

Leading 28-0, the Tiger defense again forced a punt, and starting on their own 32-yard line, the Tigers needed only to give the ball to Antwone Daniels, who broke free for a 68-yard run up the middle for a Tiger score. The Lions next possession ended with a Matthew Bivens interception. Back-to-back holding calls against the Tigers led to the Lions only score of the evening when a failed 4th down attempt gave the Lions the ball at the 44-yard line, but the Tigers took a commanding 34-8 lead into the locker room at halftime as the local Hometown Heroes were recognized, this included all branches of the military, police, EMS and firefighters.

The Tigers continued to dominate the third quarter as they drove 49-yards for the DeBose 2-yard run for the score. After a Lion punt, DeBose once again broke free for a 48-yard touchdown run.

Leading 47-8 headed into the final quarter, and the game clock continually running, neither team was able to add to their score, giving the Tigers a completely dominating performance. The Tiger offense was able to amass 516 total yards, while the defense dominated the Lions allowing just 141 total yards, including penalty yards.

The Tigers will be off this weekend while the team prepares to open district play in two weeks against the Huntington Red Devils at Tiger Stadium.
