ABILENE — Groveton Indians Athletics has their first ever State Champion Powerlifter.
Trystin Ard outclassed all comers in the 165-weight class, winning with a total weight of 1,505 pounds, 65 pounds heavier than second place.
Trystin also was awarded Outstanding Bench Press on the light platforms. He set a state record on bench press for the 165-weight class with a lift of 460 pounds. He achieved a personal best on squat, bench, and for total pounds.
Haygen Townsend finished 7th in his weight class, setting new personal records on bench, deadlift, and total pounds lifted.
