It’s election season once again

The cities of Groveton and Trinity, as well as the Trinity school district, will hold elections May 3 for various positions.

Early voting for the elections begins on Tuesday.

For the city of Groveton, five people have filed for the two positions up for election on the council. The top two vote-getters will be sworn in for the council.

The candidates are incumbent Robert Smith, incumbent Autumn Persons, Joseph Wood, Darnell Donovan and Chase Hester.

In addition, incumbent Mayor Ralph Bennett faces a challenge from Hayden Lee.

Early voting will be held at Groveton City Hall on Front Street, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. April 22-25, 28 and 29.

•For the city of Trinity, council positions 4 and 5 are up for election.

For Position 4, incumbent Bryan Buck is facing Art Walker, and for Position 5, Incumbent Phillip Morrison is being challenged by Jaimie Grider Gentry.

The polling location is at City Hall, 101 W. Madison St., from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. April 22-25, 28 and 29.

•For Trinity ISD, four candidates have filed for placement in three seats on the Board of Trustees. Those are Richard "Ricky" Hortman, incumbent Monty Andrew Huffman, incumbent Kevin Searcy, and incumbent Maggie Trevino.

The three candidates receiving the most votes will be seated.

Early voting will be held at the Trinity ISD Administration building, 101 W. Jefferson St., from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. April 22-29.

Election Day is Saturday, May 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
