Janis Bergman was born on August 21, 1927, in Trinity, to Glenn and Ferol (Rogers) Chandler. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on July 22, 2025, in Pflugerville, Texas.

Janis had a deep love for history and classic films, especially those from the 1930s and 1940s. Her knowledge of those eras was remarkable, and she delighted in sharing fascinating facts and stories about the movies she adored. She also had a great passion for music and was a talented singer. Janis earned a bachelor’s degree in Choral Studies and was a choir major in college—music remained a treasured part of her life.

A devoted member of the First Methodist Church of Groveton, Janis sang in the church choir for many years. She also enjoyed spending time with friends in her local bridge club and cherished the companionship of her beloved pet cat, “Sox.”

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Ferol Chandler, and by her husband, Owen Bergman.

She is survived by her loving son, Bill Woodburn, and his wife, Marie Welsch of Austin; her cousin, Joan Rogers, and Richard Hoaglin of Burton, Texas; along with numerous other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
