Over the weekend, the Boys and Girls Club of Walker County-Trinity Site held a bingo fundraiser on Jefferson Street in Trinity and raised more than $46,000. Congratulations.

By the time you get this newspaper edition, you will have missed the Trinity Economic Development Corporation’s Private Sector Stakeholders meeting on Wednesday.

This meeting has been planned for the last several months, and the circular was sent out asking for your vision, ideas, challenges, experiences, candor, dreams, and goals for the improvement of downtown Trinity. Trinity Economic Development Corp. has partnered with Texas Downtown Association to assess our needs and will preside over this meeting.

I am interested in how this meeting will go as the city does not have the funds to fix many needs of the community in the city pressing us now, and has to raise property taxes, water, and sewage rates to cover shortages today.

I do appreciate the corporation’s challenges and attempts to help the community. See you around town.

Don’t forget to go to the VFW Hall for the Veterans’ Wall of Honor Fundraiser on Saturday.

•Last week I apologized for misrepresenting the City’s position on Veteran’s Banners hanging on the Electrical poles and I find out this week that it is a liability to do so. How come it is not a liability for the Christmas decorations to hang from the poles?
