New blood makes the cut for Trinity ISD, Groveton council

The city of Groveton will see two new faces on the council following Saturday’s election.

Six candidates vied for three positions, which currently are held by Darrel Harbuck, Joe Don Kennedy and Donna Dixon. Kennedy and Harbuck retained their seats with 41 and 46 votes, respectively, while Joseph Wood took the third spot with 40 votes. Dixon received only 27 votes, and hopefuls Kamal Simmons and Charlene Singleterry received 30 and 17 votes, respectively.

Elections for the Groveton City Council take the top three vote-getters.

•For the two positions on the Trinity ISD Board of Trustees up for election, incumbent Dorothy Franklin lost her re-election bid with a total of 138 votes.

Incumbent John “John” Smith was re-elected with 206 votes, and the third candidate, Chad Seamans, won a seat with 238 votes.

Elections for the Board of Trustees take the top two vote-getters.

All vote totals are unofficial until canvassed.
