Several months ago, I hired Richard “Grasshopper” Harrelson, who was a Sergeant Investigator with the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO). Sgt. Harrelson assisted TCSO with the daily patrol operations of the sheriff’s office as well as oversaw a lot of the narcotic related investigations conducted by the sheriff’s office.
Sgt. Harrelson has brought that expertise to the Trinity Police Department where he has been vital in assisting me in running the day-to-day operations of the police department, as well as conducting narcotic investigations inside the City of Trinity.
Since his arrival, Sgt. Harrelson quickly made himself an asset to our community and to the Trinity Police Department. Sgt. Harrelson is from Trinity and is familiar with the issues we have within Trinity.
We routinely arrest or have interactions with someone who is in possession of illegal narcotics, using illegal narcotics, or distributing and selling narcotics. As you probably know, drugs are the root cause of many crimes, such as thefts, burglaries, and family violence issues to name a few.
When drug users and drug possessors are identified and held accountable for these life choices, these types of crimes tend to be reduced, and our communities are safer because of it. As a result, we actively look for indicators of drug use and drug possession on traffic stops and on house calls to service.
As we cultivate relationships with our community, we identify drug sellers and distributors in our city. With the assistance of our Federal, State, and County partners, we actively pursue our drug dealers and hold them accountable.
I publicly want to thank Sgt. Harrelson for the expertise he brings to Trinity. Together, we are making a difference in our community.
Call us if you need us.
