GROVETON —Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers investigated a one-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. Highway 287, west of Groveton, that occurred Friday.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 12:22 p.m., a 2002 Ford F-150 was traveling east.

It is reported that the Ford failed to drive in a single lane, left the road to the east, overcorrected, and then overturned onto its right side.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 95-year-old Joyce Taylor of Waco, was pronounced dead on scene.

This is an ongoing investigation.

•On Thursday, the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department battled a large fire that left a trailer house and shed destroyed, one trailer home partially damaged and two campers singed but saved.

Fire Chief Keith Johnson said the cause of the fire is undetermined, and that no injuries were reported.

Because of the size of the blaze, 356 VFD responded with mutual aid for water supply, and Onalaska and Livingston fire departments headed to Trinity to take fire calls for Trinity firefighters while they were at an awards banquet.

The other departments also finished mopping up the fire so Trinity firefighters could attend their annual banquet.

The department also responded to a one-vehicle accident on Highway 19 South near Bell’s Camp Road.  No injuries were reported.
