TRINITY COUNTY —Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 287, north of Groveton, that occurred Sunday.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 7 p.m., a 2001 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling south. It is reported that the driver of the Chevrolet traveled onto the wrong side of the road, took faulty evasive action back to the right, entered a ditch, and overturned multiple times.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 82-year-old Richard Linden Jr. of Dallas, was pronounced dead at scene by a Trinity County Justice of the Peace.
The investigation is ongoing.
On Friday, Livingston, Onalaska and Huntsville fire department were taking calls for Trinity Fire Department during the funeral services for retired firefighter Lyle Stubbs.
Trinity Fire Chief Keith Johnson said the crews responded to a man who had fallen into a steep ravine in Westwood Shores that morning.
Department personnel, as well as DPS troopers, assisted in rescuing the man, who suffered minor injuries.
Johnson said that after being checked out by Ventura EMS, the victim refused transport.
