PHI discusses future of service in Trinity County

Posted

For the last two years, Trinity County has provided PHI Cares membership coverage for all Trinity County residents, protecting them from the out-of-pocket expenses of a PHI or partner flight that originated from within the county or an adjacent county.

On Dec. 10, 2024, Trinity County Commissioners voted to not renew the air ambulance membership, so protection expired on Dec. 31, 2024.

According to Michelle Chaisson, membership manager for PHI Air Medical, as part of the agreement county residents were able to upgrade to extended coverage for $30 per year per household for 1, 3, 5, or 10 years.

Because the county ended the partnership, residents who purchased the upgrade became concerned, but Chaisson said those upgrades remain in effect until the term they paid for expires. Additionally, residents can secure an upgrade until Jan. 31.

Trinity County residents may upgrade online at phicares.com/trinity-county-tx/, or by phone at (985) 688-0441. A discount code TRINITYUPGRADE can be applied at checkout.
