TRINITY — Trinity ISD police are investigating a bomb threat that was made Friday.

In a statement to the community, Superintendent Dr. John Kaufman said that at approximately 11:45 a.m. Friday, the Trinity Police Department was told that pipe bombs had been placed on Trinity ISD campuses and would detonate within one hour.

Kaufman said the district immediately took action to ensure the safety of our students and staff. The high school/junior high campus, which was already unoccupied, was evacuated, along with the elementary campus, where ESL students, teachers, and construction workers were present.

Parents were contacted and students were sent home for the day. As a precaution, a bomb dog and handler were requested to sweep all campuses. The elementary, junior high, and high school campuses were all cleared.

Kaufman said that Trinity ISD takes all threats seriously and remains committed to the safety of our students and staff.
