m Otis Richardson, 78, of Trinity, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Luke’s Health in The Woodlands on Feb. 15, 2025. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

Born in Fort Worth, on Jan. 30, 1947, Sam built his life in the Lone Star State. He graduated from Venus High School in 1966, after which he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army. From 1966 to 1970, he served with distinction, earning decorations as a Vietnam War veteran. His valor and dedication to duty will not be forgotten.

Following his military service, Sam married and raised four children in La Porte and embarked on a successful career in the construction industry. He worked his way up from construction worker to supervisor, eventually leading projects all over the world. His work took him to far-reaching places like Russia and Africa, showcasing his talent and commitment to his profession.

He is survived by his four children; Shelly (Daymon) Crittenden, Jacky (Tricia) Richardson, Christy (Eddie) Brown, and Sammy Richardson; his wife, B.J. Richardson; his sisters, Carolyn (Bob) Hickox and Judy (Gerry) Garrett; his brother, Buster Richardson; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. He cherished his time with his family above all else.

Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Henry Sargent; his father, Voinal Richardson; and his brothers, Jacky Richardson, Charles Hardin and Jimmy Richardson.

A man of courage, devotion, and love, Sam’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were privileged to know him.

A private ceremony will be arranged with family and friends.288
