GROVETON — In response to multiple complaints from Trinity County residents, the Sheriff’s Office worked with Texas DPS Troopers and conducted a two-day traffic enforcement task force on Tuesday and Wednesday along US 287 and SH 94 in the Groveton area.
The task force operated during early morning hours from 4-11 a.m. Jan. 6-7 and specifically targeted overweight and unsafe commercial vehicles.
Results of the operation:
Sheriff Woody Wallace said in a post that these actions were taken directly in response to complaints, and the Sheriff’s Office appreciates residents taking the time to report unsafe conditions.
He also said that they understand the need for folks to make a living; however, the vehicles placed out of service were operating in a very unsafe manner and posed a danger to motorists, families, and first responders travelling on these roadways.
Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers will be more visible in the Trinity County area working commercial vehicle enforcement in coordination with local agencies.
