Sheriff’s Office investigates shooting

The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls regarding a serious incident near the Neches River Bridge.

A passerby contacted 911 after noticing a child in the roadway attempting to flag down motorists for help. Shortly after, additional information was received indicating a shooting had occurred in the same area. Deputies with the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded immediately.

Upon arrival, officers located one adult male deceased at the scene. A second adult male had already been transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The child involved was located and was not injured.

At this time, no names have been released. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.

The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone who called 911, witnessed any part of this incident, or rendered any form of first aid or assistance at the scene please contact the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 642-1424 and identify themselves, as further witness testimony may be needed.
