HOUSTON — “The Beast of Trinity Texas” got the red-carpet treatment Saturday, with cast a crew enjoying the premiere of the film shot almost exclusively in Trinity.
More than 500 people attended the showing at the AMC theater in downtown Houston, then enjoyed an after party and photos on the red carpet.
The film was a labor of love for Executive Producer Terry Weaver, who helped write the film and served as the lead, playing Sheriff Titus Ridge.
Weaver said he and his writing partner, called only “the Muffin Man,” began writing the film in August of 2023, and then the process of recruiting actors and crew began. Along with the help, the most important thing — funding — was being sought heavily.
While the filming was months away, Weaver continued to scout locations, meet with Trinity County officials, and bringing on other producers. Then, with one month to go before filming and needing “hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding,” Weaver met with Duke Ensell.
Mansell told Weaver that “Jesus wants me to do this,” and the rest is history.
A world premiere showing will be Sept. 6 at the Ritz Theatre in Crockett. More information can be found at https://bigfeatfilms.ticketspice.com/the-beast-of-trinity-texas-world-premiere.
