RINITY — A three-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle early on May 20 on Highway 19 and Low Keels Road left a 66-year-old man with serious injuries.
According to a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper report, at approximately 5:50 a.m., a 2002 GMC Envoy, a 2022 Yamaha XTZ motorcycle, and a 2022 Dodge Charger were all traveling south. It is reported that the driver of the GMC attempted to make an illegal U-turn, and the Yamaha struck the GMC in the back. The rider of the Yamaha was then thrown from the motorcycle onto the roadway and was struck by the Dodge.
Trinity Fire Chief Keith Johnson said that one person was transported to the Trinity hospital helipad by Ventura EMS and then to a trauma center by PHI Air Medical Service.
He also said Fire Department personnel provided traffic control while DPS investigated the accident.
The driver of the GMC, 38-year-old John-Michael Price of Crockett, was not injured.
The rider of the Yamaha, 66-year-old Drake Dale of Lovelady, was transported to HCA Conroe for treatment of possible life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Dodge, 61-year-old Gerald Gulledge of Lovelady, was not injured.
A short time later, Trinity Fire Department responded to a car fire on Stepp Street in Trinity around 9 a.m. Johnson said firefighters extinguished the fire quickly, but the Jeep Grand Cherokee was a total loss.
