TRINITY — The Newton Eagles are No. 1 in the district for a reason, which was on full display Friday when they rolled over Trinity 62-0.

From the first play after the opening kickoff, Newton scored at will, racking up a score about every minute and a half in the first quarter alone.

The Tigers had no answers for a running game that posted 177 yards or a passing game the posted 133 yards, and could not get a handle on Kendray Porter, who scored three times, two rushing and one passing, and posted 3 2-point conversions.

Meanwhile, Trinity racked up 283 total offensive yards, 277 on the ground and 56 in the air, and only posted 18 tackles on defense.

The Tigers will end district play Friday against Anderson-Shiro.
