TRINITY — The third year, Tiger Head Coach Shaun Stout said, is the one that he believe in most, and he and the rest of the Trinity football squad are banking on that for the 2025 season.
The 5-5 record from last year is a remarkable improvement over the last couple of seasons, but Stout said that the seeds planted two years ago are starting to bloom.
“We’ve worked very hard, the coaching staff has worked very hard, but what we want is the kids working hard,” he said.
Stout said that last year, the kids felt like they could have made the playoffs, but for whatever reason, it didn’t happen. One of the things they’ve been working on is keeping the kids from shutting down when something bad happens.
“We didn’t like the way things ended, so the kids started working extra hard in the off-season,” he said.
The boys worked hard during the “Breakfast Club” workouts, then got into 7-on-7 football over the summer. After a setback, they kept practicing, found out there was a playoff qualifier in Dangerfield, and we went and won that tournament.
“We also are not scrimmaging weak teams, we’re scrimmaging teams that will challenge us,” he said.
Stout said that the team lost only four kids to graduation, because they had more sophomores on last year’s team that we had any other grades, and even had some freshmen. Most of the kids are juniors this year, and have at least one year of varsity play, and should make the season memorable.
Stout said the seniors helping lead the team is Will Coleman, a 6-foot-7, 375-pound tackle; Trace Coleman; Ty Harris, who will play H-back and middle linebacker; Jamarian Corley at outside linebacker; Luke Ramsey at center is on top of his game right now; and we have Mr. Utility, Cove Copley, at wide receiver and cornerback, but you can put him anywhere and he will say “Yes, sir” and do his job.
