TRINITY — The Trinity City Council amended its substandard housing ordinance to help in its efforts to beautify the city.

At the regular Thursday meeting, the city approved changes which would better classify a substandard structure as well as change the process in declaring a structure substandard and enforcement of the ordinance.

Currently, the city has three properties it is looking to get improved.

Relatedly, the city adopted revised building codes for all construction and renovations within the city.

In other business, the council:

  • gave approval for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6899 to hand banners on Robb Street recognizing area veterans;
  • tabled a discussion regarding a halfway house for elderly women to be placed on Seventh Street. Council members wanted to speak with area residents;
  • changed the name of a road in the Bartwood Trailer Park to Bryan Lane;
  • authorized the final allocation of grant funds;
  • approved a change to a resolution regarding a match amount for a disaster grant; and
  • approved ending a city practice granting three days of water service to people cleaning up properties.
