Trinity County Sheriff to create Community Advisory Board

Posted

GROVETON — The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office is forming a Sheriff’s Community Advisory Board to strengthen communication and cooperation between the Sheriff’s Office and the residents of Trinity County.

The goal of this board to provide input, share community concerns, and offer ideas that will help improve public safety and strengthen trust between law enforcement and the county it serves.

The advisory board will consist of 16 residents from across Trinity County, with four members representing each county precinct. This ensures that every part of the county has a voice and representation.

Members of the advisory board will meet at least quarterly with the Sheriff and command staff, and additional meetings may be scheduled if needed. These meetings will provide an opportunity for community members to:

  • Share concerns from their areas of the county
  • Discuss public safety issues
  • Offer ideas and feedback on community programs
  • Help strengthen communication between residents and the Sheriff’s Office

The advisory board will serve as a bridge between the community and the Sheriff’s Office, helping ensure that residents have a voice in discussions about public safety and community engagement.

Residents who care about Trinity County and want to help improve their community are eligible to serve. To ensure the board remains community-focused and non-political, elected officials or anyone currently running for elected office are not eligible to serve

Board members will normally serve two-year terms, initially with eight members serving a one-year term and the remaining eight a two-year term but moving to two-year terms after the first year to provide continuity and experience.

Residents interested in serving can submit an application. Applications will be reviewed to ensure:

  • Representation from each county precinct
  • Community involvement and good standing
  • A balanced group of residents representing Trinity County

The initial board will be selected through this application process. After the board is established, advisory board members will also help review applications and assist with selecting future members based on qualifications and community representation.
